GM CNC hire first apprentice

GM CNC is delighted to announce that we have hired our first apprentice.

Codey Langley started the Business Administration apprenticeship scheme with GM at the end of June.

She said: “Having just finished my A Levels, I was looking for a job on the Government’s website. The apprenticeship with GM was advertised and it stood out to me as I have always been interested in business. I am excited to learn more about how businesses grow and operate.”

As part of the apprenticeship program, Codey will be mentored by both the team at GM CNC and a tutor from Rochdale Training.

“We feel that on-the-job training, combined with the theoretical knowledge provided by Rochdale Training is key to nurturing talent, upskilling a team, and investing in employee’s continuous professional development,” said Carla, Operations Manager at GM who also oversees resourcing and recruitment for the group.

She added: “Codey will get to learn about the different strands of the business, and in our opinion this is the best way to begin a working career.”

Codey also needs to complete various assignments over the next 15 months in order to progress through the program. She will then get the chance to specialise in an area of business that she enjoys – this could be sales, marketing, finance, operations etc.

So far, Codey said it’s been an interesting learning experience as she’s “been getting familiarised with GM’s software tools and databases.” She has enjoyed working with the team and been impressed by their dedication to customer service.

Carla is keen to hear from more students who may be considering an apprenticeship.  “This is the first time we have hired an apprentice but as we continue to grow, we plan to take on many more apprentices soon. Hopefully Codey’s success will attract more apprentices to apply for roles within at GM.”
